See our fantastic reviews
We understand it can be difficult to find the right provider when looking for an assessment, especially when you’re placing trust into their ability to administer such an important event.
Here’s what sets Help for Psychology apart from other providers:
Our unique ‘person-centred journey’
It goes without saying that every individual is different. Whilst some providers may take a ‘one size fits all’ approach to their cases, some offer a person-centred approach throughout assessment to adapt to each individual.
At Help for Psychology, we go one step further and ensure that our ‘person-centred’ approach begins as soon as a booking is made to ensure the right clinicians are used for that individual and that the most appropriate assessment type is carried out. Our unique screening and pre-assessment checks enable us to offer this ‘person-centred’ approach throughout an individual’s journey with us.
Our ‘why’
The reason for doing what we do is perhaps a little different to other providers out there. Our Clinical Director and founder, Dr Judy Eaton, has a story many people will be able to resonate with, which you can read about in her story of why Help for Psychology came to be. The majority of our staff also have lived experience of autism and ADHD, which isn’t a requirement of the business, but more the result of our recruitment policy – that anyone who works with us possesses the care and understanding to help our clients throughout their journey with us.
Our ability to help beyond the diagnosis
Importantly, we recognise that those who come to us are looking for help. The need for help doesn’t stop at the point of a diagnosis, whether that be for the individual being assessed or for the parents of the children we see. We offer a wealth of support through our tailored recommendations and website content (psycho-education guides, blogs, webinars and podcasts) that will help those who come to us manage their own situation post-diagnosis.
Our ability to deal with any level of complexity
When an individual comes to us for assessment, we often find that there are comorbid conditions in addition to the initial reason for the referral. There can also be further issues present, such as elements of trauma. Unfortunately, many providers are unwilling to deal with these more complex cases.
We have a proud and long-standing reputation for dealing with complex cases through our experience and the specialist clinicians we use. Our screening and pre-assessment checks allow us to pick potential complexities up early to ensure a tailored person-centred approach is applied early within the individual’s journey with us.
Our specialised screening tool
Our screening document has been developed following decades of experience assessing thousands of individuals, both children and adults.
There are two versions of the screening tool – one for children and one for adults. Both take around fifteen to twenty minutes to complete. We appreciate that this is longer than some of the other commonly used screening tools, but this is so we can gain a better picture of you or your child.
This enables us to give you honest feedback about any signs of possible autism we have seen. If we genuinely feel that there is not enough evidence to suggest an assessment might be appropriate, we will tell you. We do not want anyone to pay for an assessment if a diagnosis is highly unlikely.
WHY PEOPLE TRUST US
Meet Our Clinicians
We think it’s really important that clinicians have a mixture of clinical skill and human qualities that mean you can place your trust in them. We interview every potential partner in person before we agree to work with them, as well as carrying out rigorous background checks.
