Before training as a Speech and Language Therapist, I worked as a carer and support assistant for children with autism attending the Care at Hand holiday playscheme. Playing and interacting daily with children with autism has given me a strong foundation in understanding how they present, their strengths, and the challenges they face.
In 2020, just before the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, I began working in the field of online autism assessments and have developed extensive experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and support for children and adults presenting with Autism and cooccurring conditions including ADHD, Developmental Language Disorder, Selective Mutism, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Developmental Coordination Disorder, co morbid mental health needs and sensory processing difficulties/differences. I am trained in administering the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS2), Autism Diagnostic Interview (ADIR) and the Autism Clinical Interview for Adults. I am skilled at identifying subtle presentations of autism, particularly when working with autistic women and girls.
I am passionate about improving outcomes for neurodiverse individuals, considering the impact of early life experiences and differential diagnosis, in order to reach the correct outcome and direct individuals and families to the correct support. With the increase in online assessments following the COVID-19 pandemic, I am keen to see that telehealth services continue to deliver a high-quality, sustainable service, enabling families across the United Kingdom to have equitable and timely access to services.
I am a member of the Health and Care Professions Council, the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists, and the Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice.
