I am an Integrative Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, accredited by UKCP (MA, Terapia). Psychodynamic, neuroscientific, relational and Jungian, I use play and the creative arts to facilitate the experience, expression and transformation of a client’s internal world though metaphor, as well as directly through talking therapy and cognitive approaches. The neuroscientific approach includes use of Mindfulness and Compassion Focussed Therapy. The work frequently includes a systemic approach and parent work. I have additional training in working with Trauma (though Nicabm). Previous academic training included several Psychology degree units (before switching to my Psychotherapy training) and an honours degree in Classical studies.
I have 17 years experience of working with children, adolescents and adults in Psychotherapy and Personal Development. My previous work roles have included 7 years as a Child Therapist (5 years with Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service clients), long-term work with Developmental Trauma, brief psychotherapeutic work with Neurodevelopmental Disorders, 2 years with a CAMHS Family Therapy Team, support work with excluded Looked-after adolescents, support work with Children with Disabilites, mediation of neighbour disputes and Family Mediation.
Before moving into work with Children and Adolescents I led over 30 week-long personal development workshops for adults at a variety of education centres. These were frequently of my own design and used movement, sound, the creative arts and meditation to experience and understand the internal world and relationships with the external world. An artist in clay since 1992, I also sketch children.
