I have been interested in people for as long as I can remember and have been lucky enough to find my ideal job as a Speech & Language Therapist. Working for over 20 years has given me a vast range of experiences working with children with all sorts of speech language and communication difficulties from early language delay to speech sound difficulties to Autism Spectrum Disorder with Specific Language Impairment and Dyspraxia along the way.

Throughout my career I have provided Speech & Language Therapy across a wide range of settings including community clinics, schools and nurseries as well as managing complex caseloads within a multi-disciplinary team.

This wide range of experiences has led me to offer training in Speech, Language & Communication difficulties and how to overcome them to a whole host of organisations, educators and other heath care professionals.

I trained at Cardiff School of Speech & Language Therapy and graduated in 1992 becoming a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.

I began my career in West Wales and have fond memories of working in my first Clinic supported by Health Visitors, Midwives and School Nurses – all of whom helped me develop my skills in working with children and families.

I moved to Bath where I focused more on working with Schools and how they could support children with Speech Language and Communication Difficulties.

I worked in two schools on a weekly basis for over 7 years to enable them to support the Children who had identified speech and language difficulties including those with a Statement of Special Educational need. I led many training workshops for the staff developing their skills so that they could implement and carry out various programmes without me.

I set up the Speech & Language Therapy Service to Secondary Schools across the Authority and helped develop the Speech & Language Therapy Service to the Schools working with children with Behaviour and Emotional Difficulties.

I also worked in a Special School for Children with Autism Spectrum Conditions who taught more about autism than a text book ever could.

My family moved to Suffolk and I was the Specialist SLT in the Autism Spectrum Team providing diagnostic and intervention services for children and young people across the county. I was fortunate to be able to work side by side with a number of other professionals including Clinical Psychologists and a Sensory Integration Trained Occupational Therapist. In their own way both added so much to my knowledge base and range of interventions.

I’ve been a member of the autism/PDA assessment team at Help for Psychology for over four years.
