Principal Clinical Psychologist at Help for Psychology
Clinical Experience
I am part of the leadership team at Help for Psychology. I undertake assessments for neurodevelopmental experiences such as autism and/or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) with children, young people and adults. I also offer specialist therapeutic support where needed.
A good assessment and psychological understanding help a person to feel validated, lead to greater self-compassion, and opportunity for helpful changes within that person’s life and environment. It’s my job to get this right and I’m proud to be part of a skilled team where understanding peoples’ experiences and differences in a compassionate and valuing way is what we do best. Working as a psychologist is a privilege and a source of great professional satisfaction. I enjoy spending time with people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds and never tire of developing therapeutic relationships, based on authenticity, humour and a sense of fun.
I have worked in a psychological capacity since 2003 and qualified as a clinical psychologist in 2009. I have worked in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services for sixteen years and was clinical lead for a Parent Infant Relationship Service for five years. I have also worked in private practice for several years and was a senior clinician in a neurodevelopmental assessment team. I have extensive training and experience in clinical supervision and service development, and my areas of expertise include child development, complex mental health difficulties, attachment, trauma and neurodevelopmental differences.
I am registered with the Health & Care Professions Council, and my affiliations include the National Institute for Health Research Collaborations for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care East of England, where I completed a fellowship in 2018, evaluating a whole-school approach to mental health and wellbeing.
