I have worked in the education and social care field for a considerable time, enjoying several roles in mainstream, specialist, and independent schools where settings ranged from early years to adult. After completing a BSc Hons in Psychology in 1992, I worked as a residential social worker with a focus on behaviour before returning to study a PGCE -Postgraduate Certificate in Education and have thoroughly enjoyed teaching for many years.
I am passionate about supporting vulnerable individuals to address barriers and progress in their learning, taking senior and specialist roles overseeing various needs. As head of a special independent school for social emotional and mental health, I developed an interest in sensory issues that many of the students struggled with. This led me into further studies, and I undertook and completed a master’s module in Neuroscience Foundations for Sensory Integration to support the identification, assessment and planning for these needs. Alongside joining the team of excellent colleagues at Help for Psychology, I am currently studying Cyberpsychology as part of an MSc in Psychology of Mental Health and Wellbeing and look forward to applying my own learning to support others.
