Help for Psychology

Dr Hannah Cole - Chartered Clinical Psychologist

I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist (BPS) and I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). I qualified from the University of East Anglia.

I have always loved getting to know and supporting children and their families. I have worked in various settings including nurseries, complex needs schools and youth mental health teams. During my clinical training I worked with children and adults with neurodevelopmental conditions such as ASD and ADHD including working in a specialist adult diagnostic service for Asperger’s Syndrome.

I enjoy carrying out thorough assessments in order to create a shared narrative in which a person’s difficulties make sense. When offering psychological interventions, I use aspects of

compassion-focused therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy or a mentalization-based approach alongside more traditional cognitive-behavioural and systemic approaches. My assessments and interventions consider the person’s family, friends, partner and educational or work setting.

I am also interested in the impact of experiencing traumatic events. During my training, I completed a specialist placement in Children’s Services in which I offered consultation to Early Help and Social Care professionals about the impact of early life trauma on young people. My doctoral thesis explored aspects of the complex relationship between trauma and psychosis.
